Some people seemed a little annoyed last year when I called my new Strategic Internal Communication Conference, the first annual. Those of you who know me, know that I'm an optimist and maybe I just believe in the power of positive thinking?

That's why I am excited to begin registration for the Second Annual Strategic Internal Communication Conference. Let's take a look back at the feedback from last year's event.

Did you know:

95% rated it as Very Good or Excellent, and
87.5% told us they would attend the conference again?

We've asked for a bigger room this year, and we're excited to welcome over 120 practitioners to Toronto in November.

Here are some quotes from past attendees:

"Visiting Toronto and spending three days with people passionate about strategic internal communications was great for me personally and my company also will get a return on the investment as I plan on using many things I learned in our communications." -- Nick Jezierny

"The content of this presentation was as useful as it was energizing. It made me return to work with a very different perspective."

"The Strategic Internal Communications Conference was great. I was excited to be part of a conference specifically for internal communicators. I’m looking forward to sharing the knowledge gained with my coworkers." -- Kim Fauteux

"The only conference of its kinds in Canada and one not to miss!" -- Christine De Siato

"Regardless of your level of experience, this was a highly useful conference. I think it is important to have exposure to Canadian practitioners and success stories." -- MJ Martin

"Internal Comms are fairly new to me so this conference was like a gold mine of information!"

Some also offered suggestions:

"A bit more networking and "forced" interaction would be great."

"The only thing I would have liked to see is a session or two that provided working opportunities in smaller groups - just to break up the format."

We're pleased that this year's conference has an incredible line-up of speakers and we have made sure that there is some networking and small group work included to create opportunities to interact.

I'm also thrilled to bring global internal communication thought leader, Mike Klein across the pond from Denmark for an interactive workshop you will not want to miss.

Most internal communication, human resources and leadership programs focus on Ten Steps, Case Studies, How-To, and Technology solutions that talk about the same-old, same-old. I realized a few years ago that my approach to communication was different. I thought of it as the glue that connected disparate areas and integrated them to make ordinary organizations accomplish extraordinary feats. It was a little about doing stuff in your own little box, but more about thinking, risk-taking, listening and collaborating to build inner strength.
My advice was the same I give to all the colleagues I mentor, "If you want to stand out in the crowd of resumes and applications, you can't be afraid to brag a little and highlight what makes you successful."
