There are a lot of things that feel broken right now. How can create conversations that build community and culture? I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the importance of creativity and art that fosters the connections people are craving.
I recently met an artist who has this vision of doing workshops using the Japanese art of Kintsugi. We start with something that’s broken or we break it on purpose. We then rebuild it piece by piece talking about what comes with us from the past that we don’t want to let go of; what would make what’s broken better; and how do we build the future together.
The art allows for a serious conversation while giving it action and purpose leaving each individual with a symbol that even something broken can be built into something more beautiful if we do our part and work together.
I’ve pitched the idea to one client and I am collaborating with a partner to bring the workshop to senior internal communication professionals in Toronto in the new year, but if you are willing to try something new, book a free discovery call at the link in my bio or send me a DM to discuss what this could look like for your organization.
I think there are a great number of difficult conversations that are possible:
- New values or change in culture
- New systems being built as part of a digital transformation
- New ways of working
- The merging of teams or organizations
- Embracing AI
The artist leads the making. I facilitate the discussion that you want to have with your teams. We get to engage heads, hearts and hands. An unforgettable three-hour workshop to drive change from the inside out.
