Ever have one of those moments where your calendar says “facilitate two full days of manager communication training for a new client” and your voice says, “Absolutely not”?
After a week of conferences, networking events, coffee conversations, dinners, workshops, and more talking than any human should reasonably do, I’m feeling that familiar scratch in my throat. So tonight’s agenda is simple:
☕ Tea
🍯 Honey
🍋 Lemon
🫚 Ginger
🤞 Hope
As communication professionals, we spend so much time helping others find their voice that we sometimes forget how much we rely on our own.
The irony isn’t lost on me that I can build communication strategies, coach executives, and train managers on effective communication, but right now my biggest challenge is making sure sound actually comes out when I open my mouth tomorrow morning.
Here’s hoping a little rest and a lot of tea work their magic. If you’ve ever facilitated training, spoken at conferences, taught classes, or spent days networking, you know the feeling. Your mind is ready to go, but your voice is negotiating terms and conditions.
Wish me luck. Two days, a new client, and a voice that needs to remember who’s in charge. Fingers crossed.
