My voice held out and I delivered the presentation. This week, I had the privilege of working with 24 high-potential leaders as they prepared for the culmination of their leadership development program.
The executive sponsor was very clear about the outcome they wanted.
They wanted participants to sharpen their strategy, shape their story, and strengthen their style.
Over two half days, we focused on building presentations from the inside out. Together, we explored how to:
• Clarify purpose before creating slides.
• Understand the audience before crafting the message.
• Build a logical structure that was easy to follow.
• Use stories to make ideas memorable.
• Design slides that supported the speaker instead of competing with them.
• Deliver with confidence, authenticity, and presence.
Participants didn’t just learn concept, they had the opportunity to practice. They received feedback, refined their presentation style, and returned the next day noticeably stronger. Watching that growth from one day to the next was the most rewarding parts of the program.
Normally, I would deliver this program as two half-day sessions to give participants more time to reflect and practice; however, because many participants had travelled from across the country, we adapted the experience into two consecutive days. While it was intensive, the level of engagement, commitment, and improvement made it incredibly worthwhile.
One reminder stood out for me throughout the workshop: Great presentations don’t start with slides, they start with purpose.
If your leaders or managers would benefit from practical communication and presentation training that builds confidence, credibility, and influence, I’d love to help. Whether it’s a single workshop, a leadership program, or 1:1 support, let’s talk about how we can help your people present with purpose.
